About CBD

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a cannabis compound that is known to have significant health benefits without causing the “high” associated with other strains of cannabis that contain higher levels of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).  CBD has been used to promote relief from various conditions including, inflammation, pain, anxiety, sleeplessness and many other conditions.

Hemp-derived CBD – Is it cannabis?

Yes. Hemp is no different from the cannabis plant itself. Hemp is of the same genus, Cannabis and the species, Cannabis Sativa.  How the plant is grown and utilized determines if it’s hemp or cannabis (marijuana).  Marijuana describes a cannabis sativa plant that is bred for its potent levels of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). THC is the cannabinoid known for its psychoactive properties. Hemp is used to describe a cannabis sativa plant that is bred to contain only trace amounts of THC (less than 0.3%), yet can have high concentrations of CBD and CBDa (Cannabidiolic acid).

What are the health benefits of CBD?

When used as a supplement, CBD from hemp oil can help improve sleep, bring relief for minor pain and inflammation and provide overall support for the immune system.  When used as a balm or cream, CBD has shown to be effective for aches, pains, minor skin blemishes and acne.
